Laboratory of the scenographers

In the liberal arts, scenography and costume not only fulfil aesthetic purposes, but also serve as signposts, vehicles of action and means of communication. Places and worlds are created here that make participation and encounter possible. The design of such spaces, constellations of views, figures and spaces for action is researched and developed by scenographers, costume designers and visual artists. But how exactly does this work in practice?
In a multidisciplinary team with dramaturges and directors, we will examine and test the potential of future forms of togetherness and their scenographies and costumes in an open workshop and ask ourselves the question: What scenographies do the audiences of tomorrow need?
We cordially invite you to join in the conversation between hot glue gun and embroidery machine. Finally, the results will be presented in a performative spatial installation.
VON • Becklas/Jurado is a team for participatory and visual theatre experiences, consisting of the artists Katharina Becklas and Estrella Jurado. Together they develop walk-in installations and stages in which space and costumes become performative elements and traces of production become visible. Both conduct theoretical and practical research on contemporary and historical material conditions in the theatre context. They are founders of SK Freie Szene – a network for scenography and costume in the independent scene.

Szenografie und Kostüm erfüllen in den Freien Darstellenden Künsten nicht nur ästhetische Zwecke, sondern dienen als Wegweiser, Handlungsträger und Mittel der Kommunikation. Hier entstehen Orte und Welten, die Teilhabe und Begegnung möglich machen. Die Gestaltung solcher Räume, Blickkonstellationen, Figuren und Handlungsspielräume wird von Szenograf*innen, Kostümbildner*innen und visuellen Künstler*innen erforscht und entwickelt. Aber wie genau funktioniert das in der Praxis?
In einem multidisziplinären Team mit Dramaturg*innen und Regisseur*innen untersuchen und erproben wir in einer offenen Werkstatt die Potenziale zukünftiger Formen des Zusammenseins und deren Szenografien und Kostüme und stellen uns die Frage: Welche Szenografien brauchen die Publika von morgen?
Wir laden herzlich ein, zwischen Heißklebepistole und Stickmaschine ins Gespräch zu kommen. Zum Schluss werden in einer performativen Rauminstallation die Ergebnisse präsentiert.
VON • Becklas/Jurado ist ein Team für partizipative und visuelle Theatererlebnisse, bestehend aus den Künstlerinnen Katharina Becklas und Estrella Jurado. Gemeinsam entwickeln sie begehbare Installationen und Bühnen, in denen Raum und Kostüme zu performativen Elementen und Spuren von Herstellung sichtbar werden. Beide forschen theoretisch und praktisch zu gegenwärtigen und historischen Materialgegebenheiten im Theaterkontext. Sie sind Gründerinnen von SK Freie Szene – ein Netzwerk für Szenografie und Kostüm in der Freien Szene.
